Research and professional accomplishments: Enrico Monti currently holds a postdoctoral position at the Institut de Recherche en Langues et Littératures Européennes (ILLE) of the Université de Haute-Alsace (France). He was a Marco Polo fellow at Brown University (Providence, RI) in 2005, Department of Literary Arts. As an undergraduate, he studied abroad at the Centre for Russian Language and Culture (St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, 1998) and the University of California at Berkeley (1999-2000) and in 2001 he was awarded a dissertation scholarship to research Raymond Carver’s manuscripts at Indiana University in Bloomington. He is a regular contributor of Bibliography of Translation Studies (TSA/BTS) and has published articles on translation and American literature:"Il miglior fabbro? On Gordon Lish’s Editing of Raymond Carver’s What We Talk About When We Talk About Love" in Raymond Carver Review 1 (2007); "Dwelling upon Metaphors: The Translation of William Gass’s Novellas" in Nordic Journal of English Studies 5:1 (2006) and "Métaphores spatiales dans le discours sur la traduction : la cinétique de la littérature traduite", under press. He is also a literary translator and has published Italian translations of fictions by George Hagen, ZZ Packer, Amiri Baraka, William Gass, Brian Evenson and Richard Brautigan. |
